NICU RN Job Details

• Location: Urbana, IL 61801 (Illinois nursing jobs)
  
• Assignment Type: Travel Registered Nurse
  
• Unit: Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (Level 3+ NICU, Trauma 1 facility)
  
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
  
• End Date: November 29, 2025
  
• Duration: 12-week contract
  
• Shift: Nights, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
  
• Hours per Week: 36 (3x12 hour shifts)
  
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
  
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $2250 - $2310
  

NICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing (Illinois healthcare jobs)
  
• Minimum 3 years of recent NICU nursing experience at a Level 3 or higher facility
  
• Experience working in a Trauma 1 hospital required
  
• Previous travel nurse experience preferred
  
• Proficient with EPIC electronic medical records (EMR)
  
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  
• BLS (American Heart Association) certification
  
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
  

NICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive clinical care to neonates in a Level 3 or higher NICU
  
• Conduct initial patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
  
• Continuously evaluate and update care plans based on patient needs
  
• Monitor intake and output for neonatal patients
  
• Support mothers with breastfeeding initiation and baby-friendly practices
  
• Administer medications using bar code scanning procedures
  
• Accurately document all nursing care in the EMR system
  
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and collaborate with the healthcare team
  
• Identify and report patient and employee safety hazards
  
• Engage in ongoing professional development and mentor peers
