Job Description

Under general supervision, this position provides onsite supervision for Day Camp groups.

*This position performs duties deemed to be safety sensitive. Employees holding this position participate in pre-employment and random drug testing under Towns policies*

Responsibilities
  1. Assist in the daily management and leadership of Day Camp programs to ensure safety and efficiency.
  2. Provide general supervision to campers and staff, leading campers in planned activities.
  3. Assist in supervising part-time Day Camp Counselors; participate in hiring, scheduling, employee feedback, staff training and development, discipline/termination, and recognition processes.
  4. Develop and implement a variety of school-aged activities and excursions.
  5. Ensure assigned spaces and supplies are in proper working order to maintain safety.
  6. Provide safe transportation for campers via Town vehicles to/from facilities, schools, and excursions.
  7. Provide first aid care to injured campers and staff, complete necessary reports.
  8. Serve as a point-of-contact for conflict resolution and concerns in the absence of full-time staff.
  9. Assist in developing and evaluating safety practices, operating procedures, and training programs.
  10. Comply with all policies, procedures, and regulations necessary for licensure as outlined by the State of Colorado.
  11. Serve as a Day Camp Counselor Sr. when necessary.
  12. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Must be at least 21 years old with six thousand four hundred twenty (6,420) verifiable hours of experience working with children since age 18, or a two-year degree plus 240 hours of paid or volunteer experience caring for four or more children.

Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications within 30 days of hire.

Valid Colorado Driver's License with a safe driving record and at least two years of driving experience.

Employment Standards
  • Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and policies.
  • Knowledge of office practices and Colorado licensure requirements for Day Camp programs.
  • Knowledge of child development practices.
  • Skills in supervising staff and children, developing programming, and communication.
  • Ability to handle incidents, confrontations, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt effective solutions.
  • Successful passing of background checks and drug screening.
Working Conditions

Requires frequent use of office equipment and a vehicle. Physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, and visual acuity. Work environment varies from climate-controlled offices to outdoor settings with exposure to extreme weather and potential hazards.

Full pay range: $22.81/hr - $28.90/hr.

Starting pay: $23.50/hr.
