Job Description

Senior Software Engineer

Are you ready to join the Un-carrier movement? We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer who not only builds high-quality software but also ensures that it runs reliably and scales in production. This role blends advanced full-stack development with systems reliability practices, giving you end-to-end ownership from architecture to code, deployment, observability, and mentoring. Join us to deliver innovative, cloud-native systems that power T-Mobile's customer experiences and lead the way in shaping our engineering culture!

Job Responsibilities
  • Architect, design, and maintain full-stack web solutions, including front-end (Angular), back-end (Java/Spring Boot, microservices), and databases (Postgres, Oracle, SQL).
  • Extend and optimize data storage mechanisms across relational and non-relational stores; provide performance tuning and schema design guidance.
  • Independently design and implement complete software stacks that meet business and customer needs with long-term scalability in mind.
  • Drive adoption of modern frameworks, reusable libraries, and engineering best practices across teams.
  • Collaborate in Agile teams, break down complex features into stories, and ensure clear technical documentation.
DevOps / Systems Reliability
  • Lead deployment and operations of applications across non-production and production environments with strong focus on resilience, scalability, and security.
  • Design and implement CI/CD pipelines with Jenkins, GitLab, and infrastructure as code (Terraform/Ansible).
  • Build and maintain monitoring dashboards to track application and infrastructure health.
  • Use Grafana (APM/observability) and Splunk (logging) to monitor, troubleshoot, and improve system reliability.
  • Work with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-native patterns to enable scalable, automated deployments.
  • Continuously apply monitoring feedback and incident postmortems to improve service quality and prevent future issues.
Technical Leadership & Innovation
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and system teams to define and deliver scalable technical solutions.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and technical coaching.
  • Introduce new patterns, frameworks, and cloud services that improve delivery, performance, and reliability.
  • Influence technical direction, ensure adherence to engineering standards, and advocate for automation and quality-first practices.
  • Continuously learn and apply emerging technologies in both software engineering and DevOps, bringing innovative ideas to T-Mobile.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience (Required).
  • 58+ years of software engineering experience in Agile/DevOps environments.
  • Strong programming skills in Java, Spring Boot, Angular, plus experience with C, C#, Python, Go, or scripting (Shell/Perl).
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab), containers & orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Expertise in monitoring & logging tools (Grafana, Splunk, AppDynamics).
  • Strong architectural design, communication, collaboration, and technical writing skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Experience with business intelligence/reporting tools, especially Jaspersoft.
  • Familiarity with cloud service providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure as code.
  • Proven experience mentoring engineers and driving technical initiatives.
