Job Description

About the Role:

Imagine One is seeking an experienced Senior Cloud Architect to support the US Navy’s shore-based maintenance applications. This role is crucial in bridging the gap between customer requirements and technical solutions. As a Senior Cloud Architect, you will work closely with customers to understand their needs, design cloud solutions that meet those needs, and ensure the successful implementation of those solutions. This position requires strong expertise in DevOps practices and pipeline automation, as we aim to move away from manual deployments to fully automated, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) driven solutions. Your focus will be on overall design and cloud services, making you a key player in shaping the strategic direction of our cloud initiatives.

Key Qualifications:

  • Cloud Expertise:
    • AWS: Extensive experience with Amazon Web Services, including architecture design, security best practices, and service offerings.
    • Cloud Services: Deep understanding of cloud IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions, with the ability to recommend the right services based on customer needs.
    • Zero Trust Networking: Strong familiarity with zero trust networking principles and their implementation in cloud architectures.
    • 5G & Starlink: Knowledge of 5G technologies and Starlink, with the ability to integrate these into cloud solutions as needed.
    • DoD Cloud Practices: Knowledge of DoD Cloud policies, standards, and the ability to stay current with changes and advancements in this area.
  • DevOps & Automation:
    • Proven experience in DevOps practices, including continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
    • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Strong knowledge of IaC tools such as Terraform and Ansible, with the ability to design and implement automated deployment pipelines.
    • Ability to guide teams in transitioning from manual deployment processes to fully automated, pipeline-driven approaches.
  • Customer Engagement:
    • Strong customer-facing experience with the ability to engage with stakeholders, understand their requirements, and propose effective cloud solutions.
    • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively.
  • Architectural Skills:
    • Proven experience in designing cloud architectures that are secure, scalable, and cost-effective.
    • Ability to assess existing IT environments and recommend cloud solutions that align with business goals and technical requirements.
    • Familiarity with multi-cloud strategies and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Strategic Planning:
    • Ability to develop long-term cloud strategies that align with the organization’s objectives and customer needs.
    • Experience in creating detailed architecture documentation and guiding implementation teams to ensure solutions are built according to design.
  • Communication:
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with a focus on clarity, persuasion, and customer satisfaction.
    • Experience in leading technical discussions and presenting solutions to customers and senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Requirement Analysis:
    • Work directly with customers to gather and analyze their cloud requirements.
    • Translate business needs into technical designs that can be implemented by engineering teams.
  • Cloud Solution Design:
    • Design cloud architectures that meet customer requirements for performance, scalability, and security.
    • Provide recommendations on cloud services and technologies that best fit the customer’s needs.
  • DevOps & Automation Implementation:
    • Lead the design and implementation of CI/CD pipelines, ensuring that all cloud deployments are automated and reproducible.
    • Guide the transition from manual deployment processes to automated, IaC-driven solutions using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Collaboration & Leadership:
    • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure that designs are implemented effectively and align with customer expectations.
    • Lead architecture review sessions and provide guidance to ensure that the solution meets both customer and organizational standards.
  • Documentation & Presentation:
    • Create detailed architecture diagrams, documentation, and presentations to communicate designs to both technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Present cloud solutions to customers, ensuring that they understand the benefits and trade-offs of the proposed architecture.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies, zero trust networking, 5G, Starlink, DevOps practices, and DoD Cloud practices to provide innovative solutions.
    • Continuously evaluate and refine cloud architectures to ensure they meet evolving customer needs and industry standards.

Educational & Certification Requirements:

  • Certifications:
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect: Highly desirable.
    • Other Cloud Certifications: Such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 6 years of experience in cloud architecture, with a strong emphasis on customer engagement, DevOps practices, and solution design.

Security Requirements:
