Role: Director Fund Accounting

Location: Hybrid on site Phoenix

Compensation: $130-$160k + 20-30% bonus

Responsibilities

• Oversee the preparation, review, and delivery of fund- and asset-level financial statements and internal reports, including quarterly performance meetings and annual audits.
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP) and coordinate with external auditors on complex technical issues, tax considerations, and policy interpretations.
• Interpret and apply partnership, financing, and joint venture agreements in financial reporting and operational decisions, including the setup of new assets with complex ownership structures.
• Manage fund-level liquidity and capital activity, including budgeting, cash flow forecasting, investor reporting, and the review of contribution and distribution notices.
• Collaborate with internal teams across legal, investments, valuations, and portfolio oversight to support deal structuring, fair value updates, and investor communication.
• Lead financial coordination with joint venture partners and respond to investor requests, ensuring consistency and accuracy in shared reporting.
• Supervise and mentor a multi-level accounting team, reviewing outputs across general ledger, reporting, budgeting, and system processes.
• Partner with IT to support the evaluation and implementation of new financial systems, tools, or reporting platforms.

Required Background

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; advanced credentials (e.g., CPA) strongly preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience,
• Combination of of public accounting and industry experience.
• Previous experience working with real assets/REITs, private investment vehicles, or alternative asset managers is required.
• Demonstrated fluency in U.S. GAAP, with a strong grasp of partnership accounting and fund-level reporting.
• Advanced Excel proficiency and familiarity with at least one major real estate or investment accounting platform such as Yardi or MRI
