Job Summary

The Plant Manager, under the direction of the Vice President, Nuclear Operations, is responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the Perry Nuclear Power Plant (PNPP). Specifically, the Plant Manager is responsible for the supervision and control of the PNPP operation, maintenance, chemistry, work control and behaviors associated with industrial safety and radiation protection functions, and for ensuring that activities performed to fulfill these functions are conducted in compliance with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, licenses, codes, and within established corporate and Nuclear Generation policies, plans and procedures.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Supervises and trains those employees in Operations, Maintenance, Chemistry and Work Control. Oversight of station behaviors associated with Nuclear, Radiological, Environmental and Radiation safety.
  • Regularly reviews and leads responses to plant performance indicators, periodic status reports, evaluation / assessment reports, budgetary and corrective action reports.
  • Interfaces with and prepares for inspections, audits, and evaluations from internal oversight groups, governmental agencies (such as the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC)), or other organizations, such as the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO).
  • Represents the station (face of the station) in support of Core Principle of “We care about our key stakeholders”
  • Recommends changes in policies and procedures, as necessary.
  • Monitors established performance indicators and internal controls to assure optimum plant performance and proper compliance.
  • Leads and assists with planning and implementing changes for improvements in nuclear plant operations, maintenance, and support.

Education, Experience & Skill Requirements:

  • This position requires a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related science.
  • This position requires 10 years of power plant experience, with a minimum of 3 years in nuclear plant experience, or equivalent educational experience.
  • Knowledge of requirements and regulations set forth by the NRC, and other associated regulatory agencies.
