About the Role:

The Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees within the organization. This position is responsible for managing payroll tax compliance, maintaining payroll accounts, and utilizing payroll systems and software to streamline payroll operations. The specialist will collaborate closely with HR and finance teams to reconcile payroll data and resolve discrepancies. A key outcome of this role is to guarantee that all payroll activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations, minimizing risk and ensuring employee satisfaction. Ultimately, the Payroll Specialist contributes to the financial integrity and operational efficiency of the organization by delivering precise payroll services.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in payroll processing and payroll tax compliance.
  • Proficiency with payroll systems and software, specifically Ultipro and PeopleSoft.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling payroll data.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in a large or complex organizational environment.
  • Familiarity with additional payroll software platforms and HRIS systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to payroll processes.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with employees and management.
Responsibilities:
  • Process and execute payroll accurately and on schedule using payroll software such ADP Workforce Now, Aloha and Revel
  • Calculate, withhold, and remit payroll taxes in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain and update payroll records, including employee data, deductions, benefits, and tax information.
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies or issues related to payroll processing.
  • Collaborate with HR and finance departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll data with other financial systems.
  • Prepare and submit required payroll reports and filings to regulatory agencies.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and tax withholdings in a timely and professional manner.
  • Additionally, effective communication skills are employed to address employee questions and collaborate with internal teams, ensuring a smooth payroll operation.
