Location: Springfield, VA
Type of Environment: Hybrid
Work Schedule: Normal working hours | Day shift. Monday – Friday.
May be required to work evenings and weekends to meet program and contract needs.
Responsibilities
Basic Level: Experience in telecommunications network design and management. Must demonstrate the ability to work independently or under general direction on requirements that are moderately complex to analyze, plan, program, and implement. Experience in analyzing and designing voice networks, LAN and WAN data networks, wireless networks, and/or network management systems to support voice and data services.
Develops and manages telecommunications networks supporting a wide range of capabilities, including voice, data, video, and/or wireless services.
Designs and plans installations and maintenance of telecommunications systems from project inception to conclusion.
Analyzes network-related problems and defines system requirements and network specifications.
Coordinates closely with other IT professionals to ensure proper implementation of network services.
Develops alternative solutions and backup plans in conjunction with functional users.
Works under general supervision to manage tasks from inception to completion.
Expert knowledge of the following protocols and services for both IPv4 and IPv6:
OSPF, Multi-Protocol BGP, MPLS (L2VPN, L3VPN, VPWS, TE, CSC), Multicast (MSDP, PIM-SM, PIM-SSM, Multicast VPN, Quality of Service, VPN Routing and Forwarding, and Stateless Firewall Filters).
Develops specifications for simple to moderately complex problems.
Expertise with current and anticipated network equipment, including COTS 10 Gigabit Ethernet WAN and associated hardware/software.
Coordinates with the Task Order PM, COTRs, and government user representatives to ensure accurate solutions and user satisfaction.
Plans, performs, and documents laboratory assessments of hardware and software for both classified and unclassified DISN Services to ensure proper connectivity and operations between the DLA WAN, the DLA NOC, and DISA NOCs.
Assists in developing a Technology Assessment Plan (TAP) to include objectives, scope, equipment and configurations, technical approach, procedures, schedules, and roles and responsibilities for WAN technology refresh and upgrades.
Generates and updates network design drawings.
Prepares After Action Reports (AAR) documenting the approach taken, results, recommendations, and supporting rationale.
Identifies new and emerging network capabilities and develops product evaluation and selection criteria.
Produces formal documentation of recommendations for executive briefings.
Ensures interoperability between NIPR, SIPR, and DISN network equipment and services.
Plans and tracks implementation tasks.
Creates supporting configuration artifacts such as network maps, detailed designs, test plans, operational readiness test reports, device configurations, and maintenance procedures.
Possesses knowledge and understanding of the following technologies:
Wireless Technologies
IPv6 transition in NIPR & SIPR environments
Network Operations including network computer defense and situational awareness
DISN Video Teleconferencing over NIPR & SIPR
VoIP integration with DISA Switched Network (DSN)
Digital Streaming Video
Coordinates, plans, and implements technology refreshes and upgrades to NIPR systems and equipment.
Identifies and evaluates emerging standards as they relate to NIPR & SIPR and DLA/DOD mandates.
Required Qualifications
~ Minimum of three (3) years of relevant network engineering experience.
Security/Certification Requirements:
Must have Secret Clearance with IT-I eligibility.
Must have an active CCNA certification.
Must have at least one of the following DoD 8570 Baseline IAT Level II certifications:
CCNP Security
CySA+
GICSP
GSEC
GCIH
Security+
CND
SSCP
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
US Citizenship required
Active Secret Clearance required
