POSITION OVERVIEW
The Department of Sciences at John Jay College of Criminal Justice invites applications for one full-time Lecturer or Doctoral Lecturer position to begin in Fall 2025. The successful candidate will teach biology courses in our undergraduate majors and minors, from entry level up to capstone seminars. Candidates should have a strong track record in scienceeducation.
Candidates must be willing to serve as an advisor and mentor to students in the majors. Three years of successful college-level teaching experience is required, as are positive teaching evaluations. Candidates are expected to have expertise in teaching biology courses. The hiring committee is especially interested in applicants who contribute to the diversity mission of the college through their leadership, community service, research, and/or lived experiences.
The position of lecturer is tenure-bearing through what is called a ???certificate of continuous employment??? (CCE) after the fourth annual reappointment. This position of lecturer is a teaching position with a course load of eight classes per year in addition to significant contribution of service to the department. There is no requirement for research, publication, or other scholarship activity.
The Department of Sciences at John Jay College of Criminal Justice is a vibrant community ranked among the oldest and most prestigious in the country in the field of forensic science. Faculty members are internationally recognized for their diverse expertise in chemistry, cellular and molecular biology, toxicology, entomology, pathology, and criminalistics. The Department offers a BS in Forensic Science (which includes the three tracks of Criminalistics, Molecular Biology and Toxicology), a BS in Toxicology and a BS in Cellular & Molecular Biology. A Master of Science in Forensic Science is also offered in the three tracks previously listed. The Department also offers an accelerated BS/MS program.

QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
COMPENSATION
$56,821- $98,309 Salary commensurate with education and credentials.
