Help Desk Technician

Indiana Packers Corporation is seeking a Help Desk Technician to be part of the IT team in Delphi, Indiana. The Information Technology department is an essential part IPC's mission to produce safe, delicious, high-quality food products. IT is responsible for all computers, networks and software used at all IPC companies.

Indiana Packers Corporation (IPC) is a fully integrated foodservice and private label producer of fresh and processed meats based in Delphi, Indiana (near Lafayette, Indiana). Since the start of operations in 1991, we have experienced rapid growth from a single pork processing company into a multi-plant diversified producer of fresh and processed meats, with locations throughout America's Heartland.

Job Summary:

The Entry-Level Help Desk Technician is responsible for providing technical assistance and support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues. This role is ideal for someone passionate about technology and eager to develop skills in IT.

Responsibilities :

  • Respond to user inquiries via phone, email, or chat in a timely and professional manner.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Provide support for Windows OS, as well as common office applications.
  • Assist with the setup, configuration, and maintenance of computer systems and peripherals.
  • Document and track issues in a ticketing system, ensuring accurate and detailed records.
  • Escalate unresolved issues to higher-level support teams or specialists as necessary.
  • Follow up with users to ensure issues are fully resolved and provide ongoing support as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining IT inventory and tracking hardware and software assets.
  • Participate in training sessions and stay updated on the latest technology trends and best practices.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of computer systems and common software applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
  • Familiarity with help desk ticketing systems is a plus.
  • A+ certification or other relevant IT certifications is a plus.

Physical Requirements

Work is primarily performed in an office & plant environment requiring the ability to sit, talk, hear, frequent walking, standing, and sitting; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Ability to use standard office equipment such as telephone, computer, and copier.
