Job Summary: 

Trane Technologies has an exciting opportunity for an onsite position in our Engineering Test Laboratory (Lab) in La Crosse Wisconsin as an Electromechanical Technician I . Your primary function in this entry-level position is testing of New Product Development (NPD), sustainability, and quality improvement projects, in addition to some agency compliance. Your technician role would support building, installing, and qualifying Trane Applied Compression and Commercial Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) products. The job requires problem solving, troubleshooting, and collaboration with other lab and engineering team members to ensure timely completion of projects. This position is salaried non-exempt.

Where is the work:

This position has been designated as On-Site.

\n
• Work safely and maintain a safe work area in accordance with company policies and procedures
\n
• Assist with build, modification and installation of developmental commercial HVAC equipment and components, following engineering, agency, and test requirements
\n
• Assist with installation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of devices and systems. Including but not limited to sensors, instrumentation & process controls, AC/DC motors, controls, drives, and relay logic
\n
• Support product development activities by operating commercial HVAC equipment, controlling test facilities, and collecting experimental test data, with guidance from senior laboratory staff
\n
• Assist Test Engineering and other Technicians to install and utilize laboratory test equipment including data acquisition systems, power analyzers, flow equipment, pressure, and temperature measurement devices
\n
• Assist in the troubleshooting and repair of Trane commercial HVAC technologies and equipment
\n

Qualifications:

\n
• Associate degree in Electromechanical / Electrical Mechanical or 2-year equivalent degree program in Electromechanical / Electronics at an accredited school
\n
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook) required
\n
• Strong grasp of electronics principles and troubleshooting is preferred
\n

Key Competencies:

\n
• Basic grasp or wiliness to learn refrigeration related thermodynamic principles and mechanical troubleshooting
\n
• A working knowledge, or wiliness to learn of measurement and control equipment (digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, programmable power supplies, etc.), data acquisition, and communications
\n
• Demonstrates basic knowledge on measuring/inspection instruments and or mechanical and electrical components and their principles, properties, and theories
\n
• Basic understanding of schematics, reading, and interpreting engineering drawings, technical reports, safety rules, operation, and maintenance instructions
\n
• Ability to understand and follow current work instructions and applicable test standards
\n
• Ability to help solve practical problems and deal with a variety of complex variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
\n
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills in order to listen and speak effectively before groups of customers or employees in the organization
\n
• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced team environment
\n

Base salary for this position is $46,000-$62,000.
