Job Description

This position is for a 5th Grade General Education Teacher specializing in English Language Arts (ELA) at an elementary school in Philadelphia, PA. The role requires instruction of a classroom of 20-26 students during school hours from 8:15 AM to 4:15 PM for the 2025-2026 school year on a contract basis.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver high-quality ELA instruction aligned with the Core Reading Program, specifically the EL curriculum
• Manage classroom activities and support academic growth of 5th-grade students
• Collaborate with staff to maintain an effective learning environment
• Utilize proven teaching strategies to support diverse learners

Qualifications and Experience:

• Full certification (Instructional I or II) in ELA; emergency certifications will not be accepted
• Prior experience teaching 5th-grade ELA is essential due to limited direct supervision available for new teachers
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
