Develops, prepares, and analyzes financial and operating data while performing a variety of accounting duties. Assists with completion of other department projects.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Prepare and distribute customer invoices, maintaining current customer demographics

2. Research and respond to inquiries from other Nelnet departments

3. Research and respond to inquiries from customers and suppliers

4. Assist with financial statement preparation and consolidation of financial statements
5. Perform calculations, posting of journal entries, analysis, and reporting related to GAAP accounting transactions
6. Apply results of research to the Company’s operations and/or specific transactions
7. Reconcile accounts, research using advanced problem solving, and resolution within corporate standards
8. Assist with various accounting projects and report on performance
9. Document, report and follow through on recommendations from projects
10. Manage expectations through consistent and timely updates
11. Work with external organizations and internal departments on project initiatives and various accounting issues

**Pay Range for this position is - $48,000 - $50,000

EDUCATION:
4-year degree in Accounting

EXPERIENCE:
1+ years accounting experience preferred

COMPETENCIES – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

1. Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook

2. Ability to create Excel documents using a variety of formulas and Excel tools

3. Strong accountability for work: timely completion of tasks, working with manager to develop and achieve position goals, communication of task/project delays

4. Able to prioritize and deliver under deadline constraints and manage multiple tasks

5. Strong analytical and problem-solving ability

6. Ability to work with a team or independently with initiative and appropriate supervision

7. Excellent oral and written communication skills

8. Strong interpersonal skills

9. Understanding of complex accounting concepts and strong knowledge of GAAP, including consolidation accounting.
