About the Role

The Company is seeking a Department Chair for its Systems Engineering and Operations Research (SEOR) Department. The successful candidate will be the chief academic and administrative leader, responsible for providing vision and leadership to advance the department's standing in innovation, research, and education. This role involves guiding a robust scholarship and research agenda, promoting excellence in undergraduate and graduate education, and fostering a diverse and inclusive academic environment. The Department Chair will also be involved in personnel management, including hiring, oversight, and development, and will be expected to teach courses in line with the college's workload policy. Applicants for the Department Chair position must have a terminal degree in a related field, with a strong record in research and funding, and the ability to qualify for a tenured full professor position. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to mentoring junior faculty, leadership skills, and a genuine understanding of the teaching mission. Required qualifications include a focus on openness and transparency, strong communication skills, and a commitment to high-quality education. Preferred qualifications include previous administrative experience and the ability to foster interdisciplinary collaboration. The role is pivotal in the department's and the college's strategic goals, and the candidate should be prepared to interact with college and university leadership to elevate the department's status among peer institutions.
