Mercer Medicine is searching for PRN/On-Call Certified Medical Assistants or Medical Assistants for the Jekyll Island, Georgia clinic. The candidate in this position is expected to demonstrate the ability to multi-task by working with multiple patients, handling multiple phone calls to include appointment related calls, refills, referrals and authorizations. Display flexibility by working with different positions and in different departments as required. Responsible for EMR documentation, patient work up to include vitals, updating patient information and patient education. This candidate is expected to perform all other assigned task within the scope of their certification. Qualifications include a high school diploma/GED and at least six months of healthcare experience. Certified Medical Assistant candidates must have a current national CMA certification. Phlebotomy experience is required for CMAs but preferred for MAs. CPR certification must be earned within 6 months of start date; current CPR certification is preferred. Candidates must know how to use a computer for patient check-in/out, posting payments, and scanning. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task are required. Experience with electronic medical record systems, preferably EMD and/or Athena, is necessary. The role requires ability to multi-task office functions, operate basic office equipment, skill in oral and written communication including medical history interviewing and documentation, ability to interpret and apply physician protocols, and work both autonomously and as a team member with flexibility and a positive attitude.
